Veronika Rovná

Veronika Holbová is a young Czech soprano. She comes from North Moravia (born 3 May 1989 in Karviná). She studied classical singing at Janáček Conservatory and Grammar School in Ostrava and then went on to study at the Faculty of Arts of the Ostrava University in Ostrava. Both institutes under the guidance of a prominent Czech opera singer and teacher doc. MgA. Eva Dřízgová, Ph.D. During her studies she gained her first professional experience and a number of awards.

In 2012 she won the second place at Imrich Godin International Vocal Competition IUVENTUS CANTI and the third place at the competition Concorso internazionale "MUSICA SACRA" in Rome in the autumn of 2012. Veronika Holbová and theensemble became the absolute winner in the instrumental-vocal category of the singing competition Stonavská Barborka in 2013.In 2015 she won thefirst place in the femalecategory OPERA ŽENY at the Antonin Dvorak's International Singing Competitionin Karlovy Vary.

Since 2009 she has been performing with the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre. Among her performances were the role of Barbarina (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Annina (Verdi: La traviata), Esmeralda (Smetana: Prodaná nevěsta), Barena (Janáček: Její pastorkyňa), Anna (Verdi: Nabucco), Rowan (Britten: The Little Sweep), Siren (Dvořák: Armida), Fekluša (Janáček: Káťa Kabanová), Barbara (Strauss: Eine Nacht in Venedig) and Dinah (Martinů: Les Trois souhaits ou les vicissitudes de la vie), Lucia (Britten: The Rape of Lucretia), Axiňja (Šostakovič: Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Rosina (Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia)and ViolettaValery (Verdi: La Traviata), etc.

 As a guest artist she has performed the roles of Violetta Valery (Verdi: La Traviata) at the National Theatre Brno, as well as Countess (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Conception (Ravel: L'heure espagnole) andKuchtík (Dvořák: Rusalka) at the State Theatre Košice and the main roles of Rosina (Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia) andFiordiligi (Mozart: Così fan tutte) at the Silesian Theatre Opava. She has also worked with the South Bohemian Theatre where she performed The Fire, The Nightingale and The Princess (Ravel: L´enfant et les Sortiléges) and she performed as Second Nympf  in Antonín Dvořák's Rusalkaat the Opera de Lyon in France in the autumn of 2014.

 Veronika Holbová has had a number of successful concerts with major orchestras and ensembles (Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Janáček Chamber Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, Moravian-Silesian Symphony Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, Slovak State Philharmonic Košiceetc.). She has also performed at international music festivals (e.g.Smetana's Litomyšl National Festival, Leoš Janáček International Music Festival, The St. Wenceslas Music Festival, The Košice Music Spring Festival, etc.). She regularly performs at the French festivals: Les rencontres in Louvergny (2007, 2010), Les Musicales de Louvergny (2014, 2017 and 2018).
